Lacey represents clients in a wide variety of commercial, civil, and complex business litigation matters. A Director at Bell, Davis & Pitt, she has practiced law in Charlotte for more than 20 years and regularly advises manufacturers, contractors, developers, lien holders, and lenders on complex business disputes. She also works with both landlords and tenants to resolve a wide variety of lease disputes. Lacey is actively involved in the Charlotte legal community, serving in leadership roles with the Mecklenburg County Bar and the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation.

Lacey’s practice centers on commercial, construction, and contract disputes, with a particular focus on litigation arising from distressed credit and property issues. She represents developers, general contractors, owners, and subcontractors on hotel, multi-family, and other large commercial projects, and she advises on business and shareholder disputes and derivative actions. As part of resolving these disputes, Lacey drafts and negotiates commercial leases and complex commercial transactions, and lending documents, including note purchase agreements, subordination agreements, assignments, forbearance agreements, and loan modifications.

Before joining Bell, Davis & Pitt, Lacey gained broad litigation experience in areas including products liability, toxic tort, construction law, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, curative title issues, and intellectual property protection. She represented secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy and adversary proceedings, handled lender liability and breach of contract claims, and negotiated the resolution of troubled and delinquent accounts, often exceeding $500,000, work she continues to perform today. She served as lead associate in developing a national defense strategy for an industrial manufacturer facing asbestos claims, coordinating experts and more than 20 local counsel across multiple jurisdictions. She also served as counsel to an SEC-appointed Receiver, resolving and managing more than $22 million in victim claims, and has helped clients resolve disputes involving millions of dollars, including a business dispute that allowed her client to retain a $24 million annual account.

Lacey has first-chaired both jury and bench trials and has extensive experience with the state and federal rules of evidence, rules of court, motion practice, and trial procedure. She has also developed a strong appellate practice.

A native Charlottean, Lacey attended Providence High School and returned to Charlotte after law school to begin her legal career. Away from the office, she enjoys time at Lake Norman with her husband, their son, and two black labs, and cheering on the Carolina Panthers and Georgia Bulldogs. Lacey also enjoys history, travel, wine, yoga, needlepoint, and making homemade strawberry preserves.
