As reported by 107.7 WHKP, Henderson County's Board of Commissioners voted recently to approve a five cent property tax increase starting July 1, 2016.  The new Henderson County rate is .0056%, or 56.6 cents per every $100 of property value. According to the report, the increase in tax rate was driven by an increase in county services, a 3% pay raise for county employees, plans for a new law enforcement training center, and the need to pay debt service on various major buildings.

The report also noted that the Town of Mills River will also be raising its rate, but city rates for Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and Laurel Park will stay where they are.
