Winston-Salem/Charlotte, NC, (December 2, 2014) – Mark A. Jones, an attorney with the law firm of Bell, Davis & Pitt, PA, has been installed as the 2014-2015 Chairman of the Criminal Justice Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Jones heads the white collar and general federal defense sections at the firm, which has offices located in Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
Jones is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, earning his J.D., cum laude, in 2006. While at Georgetown University Law Center, Jones was a member of the Georgetown Law Journal, (2004- 2006) and was Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal's 35th Annual Review of Criminal Procedure (2006). Jones earned his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Wake Forest University in 2002. In 2013, he was President of the Forsyth County Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers’ Association.
As an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of North Carolina from 2008-2012, Jones represented the United States in hundreds of federal criminal investigations and prosecutions. From 2006-2008, Jones gained valuable court-room experience as he clerked for several judges in Virginia and North Carolina. Jones has been honored for inclusion as a North Carolina Super Lawyer Rising Star and among Business North Carolina magazine’s Legal Elite in Criminal law.
