Firm sponsors ACC Banquet

In April of each year,  Associates in Christian Counseling hosts its major fundraiser and invites individuals and business owners to participate through sponsorships. Bell, Davis, & Pitt was honored to participate as a Bronze Sponsor of the April 19, 2016 event in support of  Associates’ commitment to the Winston-Salem, Rockingham County, and Surry County communities.

ACC provides comprehensive mental health services, including psychological assessment, individual, marital and family therapy.  The organization has served more than 20,000 clients and provided over $2.7 million in pro bono or reduced fee counseling to those with financial needs. This year’s keynote speaker was Mark Whitakre, Ph.D., whose story inspired the major motion picture, The Informant.  With more than two decades of top management experience with Fortune 500 and international companies, Mr. Whitakre holds the distinction of being the highest-ranked executive to become a whistleblower in U.S. history.  He recounted his involvement in the ADM price-fixing scandal that destroyed his career, ruined his reputation, drove him to attempt suicide, devastated his family and ultimately led to a nine month prison sentence.  As Mr. Douglas Burris, Chief of U.S. Federal Probation in the Eastern District of Missouri has stated publicly, “The story about Mark Whitakre’s redemption and second chance is one of the most inspirational stories of our time.”

Karen Googe, the Firm Administrator has served on the ACC Board for six years and has served as their banquet chair for the past four years.
