Jason James has been recognized as the 2020 Legal Elite Winner in Construction by Business North Carolina. Jason was also recognized as a honoree in the category of litigation. Jason is an accomplished litigator, primarily focusing in the areas of construction litigation, complex commercial and business tort litigation, and dispute resolution.
A total of seven attorneys from Bell, Davis & Pitt have been named to the 2020 class of Business North Carolina's Legal Elite, which recognizes attorneys in business-related categories. This year, 573 lawyers were selected as Legal Elite honorees, about 3% of the state’s 19,000 active attorneys.
Honorees are selected not by Business North Carolina editors, but by attorneys in the state. Business North Carolina sends ballots to every member of the North Carolina State Bar living in the state asking the following question — "Of the Tar Heel lawyers whose work you have observed firsthand, whom would you rate among the current best in these categories?" Voters are not permitted to vote for themselves, and attorneys can vote for a member of their own firm only if they vote for an attorney outside of their firm as well (with the latter weighted more heavily).
Bell, Davis & Pitt attorneys and their areas of practice included in the 2020 Legal Elite are:
Leigh Bagley — Real Estate
Jason James — Construction & Litigation
Josh Durham — Litigation
Galen Craun, III — Business
Marc Gustafson — Employment
Art DeBaugh — Intellectual Property
Robin Stinson — Family
